Shoreline Protection and Restoration Project  

The Town of Highland Beach is currently engaged in a major effort to protect and restore its shoreline on the Chesapeake Bay, to increase community resilience, and to expand ecological habitat.  

Project Timeline  

2022 to Present - Community engagement activities of the Town’s Beach Erosion & Maintenance Committee. 

July 2025 – Selection of Bayland Consultant’s and Designers, Inc. for design and engineering services.

September 2025 – Survey of Highland Beach community to help identify priorities and direction for the project. 80% of Highland Beach households responded to the survey. Survey results were shared with Bayland.

September 22, 2025 – Shoreline Design Kickoff Meeting to identify and discuss community priorities for the project.

October 27, 2025 – Design Charette/Workshop with Bayland, Mayor and Board of Commissioners, and designated citizen representatives to review initial design concepts and to refine design concept.

November 24, 2025 – Presentation of culminating design concept to Highland Beach community.
