Five members are appointed to a 3-year term by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. The Board of Appeals elects a chair from its membership and appoints a secretary.

Three members are appointed to a 4-year term by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Members are to be appointed first Monday in March in every second odd numbered year. Members must be qualified voters. Members may not hold nor be candidates for any elective office during their term of office.

Public Ethics Commission

Three members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners.  Length of term is not specified.


Frederick Douglass Museum & Cultural Center, Inc.

Federal Douglass & Cultural Center, Inc.

The FDMCC is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization that operates and provides tours of the Museum.  The museum is open to the public by reservation, and museum docents provide tours narrating the history of the museum, including the connection to famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass and his family.
